Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

Summary

2003-06-18: On departure from Calgary the landing gear on the Westjet Boeing 737-700, registration C-FJWS, would not retract. The aircraft returned to Calgary and landed without further incident. Maintenance personnel adjusted the uplock pressure microswitch in the emergency gear extension panel and returned the aircraft to service.
2003-06-19: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that the flight crew reported the gear would not retract after takeoff. They tried to re-cycle the gear with no change. No other abnormal indications were noted. The crew requested and was granted clearance to perform an 'over-weight landing' and the aircraft landed without incident. Maintenance inspection found the 'manual extension access door switch adjustment' out of limits. The switch was adjusted per the maintenance manual and gear swings were performed successfully. An over-weight landing inspection was conducted per maintenance manual and no faults were found. Aircraft returned to service with no further incidents to report.
