Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)

Summary

2003-06-02: C-GWRM, a Cessna 402, sustained a blown tire on landing on Runway 31 in Winnipeg. The pilot initially stopped on the runway surface and then taxied the aircraft off the runway into the grass approximately 60 feet from the edge of the runway. Airport duty personnel were notified, the tire was changed and the aircraft taxied to the apron without further incident. All pertinent information was broadcast on ATIS and operations continued normally. No aircraft were inconvenienced. Winnipeg International Airport is reduced to one runway for turbojet a/c until August due to major renovations to Runway 18/36.
