Incident at WHITECOURT AB (CYZU)

Summary

2003-06-02: The pilot of C-GVPL, a Piper Cherokee, taxied from the ramp at Whitecourt airport and departed from Runway 11 without contacting Whitecourt FSS or broadcasting intensions on the Mandatory Frequency. Two helicopters were operating in the circuit at the time. Several calls and flashing of the runway lights failed to draw the pilot's attention.
