Incident at RANKIN INLET NU (CYRT)

Summary

2003-05-29: CAV 7543, a HS 748, was inbound to Rankin Inlet (YRT) from Whale Cove and the crew made initial contact with YRT FSS 26 miles south of YRT. Despite repeated attempts to contact CAV 7543, the next report from the aircraft was when it was clear of the runway. After discussion with the crew, it was determined there was an equipment failure on board. The nature of the radio problem is not known.
2003-06-18: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that there were no entries made as far as a radio defect is concerned. The crew has stated that they were in radio contact at all times and maybe Rankin FSS had a glitch. However the bottom line is there have been no reported radio failures in that A/C to date.
