Accident at WHITEHORSE/ ERIK NIELSEN INTL (CYXY)

Summary

2003-05-28: UPDATE TSB reported that the student pilot was performing a solo flight towards his recreational pilot's licence in a Piper PA-22-150, C-FZPU, under the supervision of the Yukon Flight Training Centre. The student pilot was landing on Runway 13 in Whitehorse with the winds at 140°M at 10 knots. During the landing roll the aircraft ground looped to the left causing the right main landing gear to collapse which in turn damaged the right wing tip and the propellor. The pilot was not injured.
2003-05-27: The solo pilot of C-FZPU, a PA-22 Tri-Pacer, was doing a local training flight at Whitehorse when he lost control of the a/c on landing. The a/c sustained damage to the propeller, landing gear and right wing, but the pilot was not injured.
