Incident at PORTAGE LA PRAIRIE / SOUTHPORT MB (CYPG)
2003-05-22: MSTG 81, a Beech King Air, was on approach to Runway 13R at Southport when the crew declared an emergency due to smoke in the cockpit. ERS was on standby as the a/c landed safely and the crew shut down and evacuated. The a/c was subsequently towed to the hangar. The cause of the smoke is not known.
2003-05-29: UPDATE TSB reported that the Bombardier/Canadian Aviation Training Centre, Beech C90A, C-GMBX, was being flown by a crew of two on a local training flight from Southport. The aircraft was on approach to Runway 13R Southport when the crew declared an emergency due to smoke in the cockpit. ERS was on standby as the aircraft landed safely and the crew shut down and evacuated. The aircraft was inspected and it was reported that the smoke resulted from a failing air conditioner fan motor.
