Summary

2003-05-21: ACA 1024, a Canadair RJ with 33 people on board, was enroute from Winnipeg to Chicago when the crew declared an emergency due to an open door indication. The flight returned to YWG where it landed uneventfully at 1220Z. TSB reported that while cruising at 27,000 feet, the forward passenger door warning light illuminated. The flight crew declared an emergency and returned to Winnipeg where the aircraft landed safely. The operator advised that an inspection did not reveal any discrepancies. The door handle, door latches and proximity switches were lubricated. The system was tested, and the aircraft was returned to service without further incident.
