Incident at RESOLUTE BAY NU (CYRB) (Aerodrome - runway or taxiway surface condition, Aerodrome - other)


2003-05-12: Blower 120 was clearing snow on Runway 17/35T at Resolute Bay. The driver attempted to exit the runway for the departure of KBA 293, a DHC-6 Twin Otter, when the vehicle became stuck on the button of Runway 35T. The crew of KBA 293 was advised of the position of Blower 120 at the opposite end of the runway and departed on Runway 17T without incident.
2003-12-01: Aerodrome Safety advised that the snow blower operator had been clearing snow in and around the runway lights and was parallel to the button of Runway 35T when he was contacted by the Cars Operator at Resolute. The snow blower operator was advised that a Ken Borek Twin Otter (KBA293) was taxing for a departure and was directed to stop the snow removal and clear the immediate area. While accomplishing the Cars request the snow blower got stuck. The crew of KBA293 continued the backtrack and departed off of Runway 35T while the operator of the snow blower watched some 200 feet from the button of the runway. Safety was not compromised in this event.
