Incident at IQALUIT NU (CYFB)

Summary

2003-05-12: FAB 802, a HS 748, departed Iqaluit for Igloolik and 3 minutes after departure at 1905Z the crew reported that they were returning to the airport because of a flap problem. No emergency was declared and no assistance was required. The crew did an overweight landing without incident at 1913Z. Company maintenance found that the flaps had jammed at 7 degrees and determined that a 'flap contacter' was faulty. They did an overweight inspection, replaced the faulty contacter, re-cycled the flaps with no anomalies and returned the a/c to service.
