Incident at LITTLE GRAND RAPIDS MB (CZGR) (Aerodrome, runway or taxiway shutdown)
2003-05-21: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that company maintenance advised that the R/H main tire came off the wheel assembly. Further inspection revealed that the wheel assembly (McCauley) had cracked internally allowing the outer half of the inner one- piece assembly (outer retainer plate attached with 6 bolts) to separate, thus causing the tire to walk off the rim. Company maintenance also noted that the wheel assembly found installed was not identified in the Cessna illustrated parts manual. The wheel axle and leg were examined and no damage evident. A serviceable (Cleveland) wheel assembly, brake disk and tire were installed. A.M. & M. is currently in the process of generating a detection notice in regards to this matter.
2003-05-06: C-GNYD, a Cessna 207 with a pilot and four passengers, was taxiing for departure from Little Grand Rapids when the right main wheel came off the a/c on the threshold of the runway. The pilot shut down and the occupants exited the a/c. The company flew in an engineer from their base at Arnes to repair the wheel. The runway was closed for about 2 hours for the repair. The a/c was later ferried without passengers to base. The cause of the wheel problem is not known.
