Accident at Martinsville

Summary

2003-05-05: The recently-purchased Cessna 150M, C-GWDV, departed Martensville, SK, on a test flight. Shortly after takeoff, the pilot made a right turn at low altitude and then lost control of the aircraft. The aircraft descended and struck the ground on the airport property. The pilot was thrown clear of the aircraft and suffered serious injuries. The aircraft sustained substantial damage. The 54-year-old male pilot has a student permit and was not under the supervision of an instructor. He and a friend (who was the new owner and also a student pilot) had reportedly travelled to Martensville to fly the aircraft to Winnipeg.
