Incident at Elkhorn

Summary

2003-05-01: Winnipeg ACC was informed by several high fliers of an activated ELT near the Manitoba - Saskatchewan border near Yorkton. SARSAT also formed a case and CASARA personnel from Weyburn were tasked to begin a search. The search a/c homed the signal to C-GEJS, a parked Cessna 172, at Elkhorn, MB. It was reported that the ELT had been installed that day and it had malfunctioned. Search time, 2.7 hours.
