Incident at LA RONGE (BARBER FIELD) SK (CYVC)

Summary

2003-04-23: At 2322Z, the Winnipeg ACC Controller noticed an unidentified target climbing through 12,500 feet 40 nautical miles north of La Ronge. The Controller contacted La Ronge FSS to see if FSS knew who the aircraft was, however FSS was unaware of the a/c. The Controller then had an enroute aircraft make a broadcast on 126.7. The aircraft was determined to be TW 250M, a Beech King Air, which by this time had climbed to 15,600 feet. The Controller radar identified the aircraft and when queried, the pilot advised he climbed above 12,500 feet because he had encountered cloud.
