Incident at MEDICINE HAT AB (CYXH)

Summary

2003-04-23: DRGN 64, a CT-155 Hawk, a military jet trainer, who was cleared by the Edmonton Controller to conduct IFR approaches, was observed conducting a missed approach to Runway 09 at Medicine Hat. At no time did Medicine Hat FSS have radio communication with the pilot. Calls to the aircraft were not answered. DRGN 64 contacted the FSS when he was departing the Control Zone. No explanation was received why the pilot did not follow the the MF radio procedures. There was no conflict with other a/c.
