Accident at YELLOWKNIFE NT (CYZF)

Summary

2003-04-22: The driver of Staff 25, a Yellowknife airport truck, was proceeding across the main apron when it struck the tail section of C-GIJL, a parked Cessna 210. Damage to both the aircraft and truck was reported as significant. The accident occurred on an uncontrolled surface of the airport and out of the normal view of the Tower staff. It was reported that excessive speed might have been a factor in the collision.
2003-04-25: UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that the driver's Airside Vehicle Operators Permit (AVOP) privileges were revoked. The vehicle operator has been tasked with other duties pending an Occupational Safety Health (O.S.H.) committee investigation. It was reported that the R.C.M.P. at Yellowknife have also opened up a file and are conducting their own investigation
