Incident at REGINA INTL SK (CYQR) (Aerodrome - other)

Summary

2003-04-16: A bright white flare appeared approximately 1000' AGL 1/2 NM North of the threshold of Runway 13. It was visible for about 5 to 10 seconds in a slow descent. The pilot of WEW1580, which was on the left base for Runway 13 indicated to the tower he had been significantly taken by surprise by the event. Commissionaires conducted a field perimeter patrol in the vicinity and could not locate the source.
2003-04-17: Aerodrome Safety advised that the Airport Authority at Regina as well as the City Police haven't been able to locate any evidence or remnants of flares or small rockets that may have been a factor in this event. They will continue looking into this to locate the cause.
