Incident at PRINCE ALBERT (GLASS FIELD) SK (CYPA)
2003-04-11: KA 1050, a Metro III, departed Prince Albert for Stony Rapids with 12 people on board and when the flight was 10 NM north of YPA, the crew advised that they were returning due to a left wing overheat indication. AFF responded and the flight landed safely at 1540Z. TSB will be contacting the company.
2003-04-23: UPDATE TSB advised that shortly after takeoff from Prince Albert, the crew of a Northern Dene Airways SA-227-AC Metro IV, C-FIPW, reported that the left wing overheat annunciator light had illuminated steady indicating a wheel well overheat condition. The crew executed the emergency drill as per SOP's and commenced a left turn direct back to Prince Albert. IFR was cancelled and the aircraft landed safely with AFF standing by. The overheat annunciator indiction was traced to a broken wire on the thermal sensor in left wheel well. The wire was repaired and the aircraft was returned to service.
