2003-04-10: C-GRDI, a Robinson R44 helicopter with 2 people on board, had been working south of Peace River and the pilot had filed a company note. At 2328Z, the SARSAT formed a case in the Peace River area, although no ELT signal was heard by any high fliers in the region. FSS considered the helicopter overdue and began a communication search, and it was determined that C-GRDI was missing. The local CASARA group was tasked and was airborne at 0110Z along with a number of local commercial helicopters. At 0220Z the helicopter was found 13 NM southeast of Peace River and a short time later, the 2 people on board were rescued and taken to hospital. The individuals had sustained serious injuries and the helicopter is believed to be substantially damaged. The helicopter was on a company itinerary doing local work in the area.
