Incident at EDMONTON CITY CENTRE / BLATCHFORD AB (CYXD)

Summary

2003-04-08: A VFR flight plan was received at Inuvik (YEV) FSS for C-GFCV, a Cessna 206, to fly from City Centre Airport to Inuvik with an ETA at YEV of 0956Z. When the a/c did not arrive, Inuvik FSS notified Edmonton FIC. A communication search ensued and airports along the route were contacted, all with no results. The a/c owner in Inuvik also had no information on the a/c. Finally, RCC Trenton was advised and a CC-130 Hercules was launched from CFB Winnipeg. At 1147Z, the owner called Inuvik FSS to advise that the a/c had never left Edmonton and was parked at City Centre. The search was terminated at 1156Z. Initially, it was reported that ""there had been no other contact than a departure message from City Centre Tower"". However, it was later reported that a departure message was not received from City Centre Tower. The Edmonton FIC manager is investigating the incident.
2003-07-14: UPDATE ANS and Airspace reported that Nav Canada will take no further action on this due to the fact that there was no ATC involvement.
