Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG)

Summary

2003-04-03: The WestJet Boeing 737-200, C-GEWJ, was climbing out on departure from Vancouver when the crew noticed unusual sounds during gear and flap retraction. They also noticed that the 'A' hydraulic system quantity was indicating 1/4 U.S. gallons, although the pressure remained normal. After contacting Maintenance Control and switching the 'A' system off, the flight continued to Edmonton where they landed without incident. ERS was called out as a precaution in case hydraulic pressure was lost during the landing.
