Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)
2003-04-07: UPDATE TSB reported that the Fairchild SA227-DC aircraft was on the approach into Calgary. When the crew selected the gear down, there was no down and locked indication (green light) from the left main gear. The Tower Controller was advised and the aircraft conducted an overshoot. After the gear was cycled three times, a manual extension was attempted with no change in the indication. An indicator light bulb exchange was attempted, but was not possible. Three 'flybys' of the Tower, and a visual inspection by another aircraft, revealed that the gear appeared down and locked. ERS was called out and attended an uneventful landing.
2003-03-31: C-GAFQ, a Metro III, was inbound to Calgary when the crew advised the Tower Controller of a landing gear indication problem on the left main. The crew conducted an overshoot on Runway 34. CFR was called and responded. C-GAFQ landed safely on Runway 34 without incident at 0618Z. No operational impact. TSB will be contacting the operator.
