Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)
2003-03-27: C-GRFR, a Lake Buccaneer amphibious a/c, landed on Runway 31 at Winnipeg and the nosewheel collapsed after touchdown. The pilot shut down on the runway and with the assistance of the Airpot Duty Manager, lifted the nose which allowed the nose gear to extend. The pilot then taxied the aircraft to the apron. No other assistance was required and no other aircraft were inconvenienced. It is not known if there was any damage to the a/c, however, TSB will contact the pilot.
2003-03-28: UPDATE TSB reported that on landing on Runway 31 at Winnipeg, the nosewheel of C-GRFR, a Lake Amphibian, collapsed on the landing roll. The aircraft stopped on the runway. The pilot and airport duty manager were able to lift the aircraft and lower the nosewheel, so that the aircraft could be taxied off the runway to the airport apron. The aircraft nose section sustained only minor paint scratch damage, however the fuselage will be inspected by an AMO. It was reported that the hydraulic power switch may have inadvertantly been turned off prior to landing. TSB recommended M.& M. follow up on the repair of the a/c.
