Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)

Summary

2003-03-26: C-FDMX (Beech 95 serial # TD 57 ) was on a scheduled training flight at Winnipeg, which included a full-feather engine-shutdown excercise. After the engine was shut down the instructor pilot was unable to re-start the engine (Lycoming IO-360 B1B). The crew returned to and requested a priority landing in Winnipeg. Company maintenance personnel greased the propeller and charged the unfeathering accumulator. A further inspection after a subsequent test flight revealed a leaking unfeathering valve and unservicable propellor governor (Hartzell model HC-C22 YK-2WUF sn AV88918) which were replaced and the aircraft was returned to service.
