Incident at SACHS HARBOUR (David Nasogaluak Jr.Saaryuag) NT (CYSY)
2003-03-21: The crew of AKK 101, a Beech King Air 100, while on second approach to Sachs Harbour, informed the CARS Operator that they were not getting a proper gear down indication. The crew returned to Inuvik after informing the company and did a low approach for visual inspection in determining if the gear was down. It appeared to be down normally, so the crew elected to land, and did so uneventfully. There was no other impact on operations.
2003-03-24: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that when the landing gear was selected down at Sachs Harbour the crew saw only a 'two green' indication instead of three. The decision was made to return to Inuvik, where the emergency gear extension was initiated and they got a 'three green' indication at that time. One of the microswitchs was found to be faulty. The switch was replaced, gear swings carried out and the aircraft was returned to service.
