Incident at LETHBRIDGE AB (CYQL) (Conflict - near collision (VFR or IFR), Alleged Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) infraction)


2003-03-20: N39GK a Piaggio P-180 Avanti called Lethbridge FSS to request to join the circuit. FSS requested the pilot to call downwind left for the active Runway 12. N39GK did not call downwind left. In the meantime, GLR7227, a Beech 1900 called 8 miles on final on Runway 12. GVFD a Cessna 172 reported 2 miles NW of the airport. N39GK was then observed by FSS on left base on Runway 12 while GLR7227 was now 5 miles final on Runway 12. N39GK continued through the final approach path and headed west of the airport with approximately 2 miles separation between GLR7227 and N39GK. GLR7227 landed on Runway 12 at 22:00Z. N39GK landed on Runway 12 at 22:02Z for circuits. GVFD landed on Runway 12 at 22:04Z for touch and go.
