Incident at ISLAND LAKE MB (CYIV)

Summary

2003-03-24: UPDATE TSB reported that the Sandy Lake Seaplane Service Britten Norman Islander, C-FYPB, had just leveled off at 3,500 feet on departure from Island Lake, MB, en route to Sandy Lake, ON. As the pilot adjusted the mixtures the left engine lost power. The pilot completed the engine shutdown and returned for landing at Island Lake. It was reported that the left engine (Continental IO-540) number three cylinder had broken off the engine case.
2003-03-20: C-FYPB, a Britten Norman Islander, departed Island Lake for Sandy Lake and shortly after takeoff, the pilot shut down one engine and returned to Island Lake without further incident.
