Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)

Summary

2003-03-24: UPDATE TSB reported that maintenance found a loose hose on the turbocharger. The engine regained power after descending to a lower altitude. The hose was reconnected and the a/c released to service.
2003-03-18: C-GLFP, a homebuilt Lancair IV-P, departed Red Deer for Spokane and when the a/c was at FL 200 about 25 NM southwest of Calgary, the pilot reported that the engine had quit. He started an immediate turn and descent back to YYC. He then reported that the engine was re-started through FL 180 and flight continued to YYC, landing on Runway 34 at 1850Z. After landing, the engine quit again and the aircraft had to be pushed from the runway at 1852Z. There was minimal impact on other traffic. The pilot did not declare emergency and said ERS was not needed. The cause of the engine malfunction is not known. TSB will contact the owner.
