Incident at WHITEHORSE/ ERIK NIELSEN INTL (CYXY) (Incursion - runway - vehicle)

Summary

2003-03-27: UPDATE Aerodrome Safety reported that Western Express operates Swearingen Merlin aircraft on a scheduled mail (bag) run between Vancouver, Terrace and and Whitehorse. Their machine went u/s at Whitehorse with engine problems. The company has a van positioned there to transport bank notes and other cargo to and from town. The driver on this occasion had been cleared onto the ramp area but no further. On board the truck were engine parts which were been taken to the RCMP hangar (where repairs were being conducted) at the south end of the airport on Taxiway Echo. The driver was notified and he admitted to a lapse in memory and procedures. No other vehicles or aircraft were inconvenienced
2003-03-13: An unidentified truck proceeded from the apron at Whitehorse Airport across Runway 19 and along Taxiway Echo without authorization. Airport Security was notified.
