Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)

Summary

2003-03-13: Shortly after departing on Runway 18 at Winnipeg, the pilot of the DA-20 Katana, C-GRAY advised he had detected an unusual odour and requested to return for landing. ERS responded and the a/c landed safely on Runway 13 at 2025Z. Maintenance examined the a/c and could not determine a cause. It was thought that perhaps some residual oil had contacted the exhaust which generated a smell, but otherwise there were no anomalies with the a/c.
