Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG)
2003-02-17: While in the initial descent to Edmonton, the pilot requested to land on Runway 30 which was the opposite end of the active runway. The pilot indicated urgency in getting his request, as he did not have legal fuel to fly the approach to Runway 12. The pilot stated he must have Runway 30 or he would have to divert to Calgary. The flight was provided with priority service and landed uneventfully on Runway 30 at 05:36Z. This priority caused ACA135 a 5 minute in-flight delay before they could land on Runway 12. The pilot of TSC243 advised the fuel situation was created by un-anticipated traffic and wind situations enroute.
2003-02-18: TSB reported that the Air Transat Airbus A310-300, registration GPAT, was operating as flight TSC243 from Punta Cana, Dominican Republic to Edmonton, AB. TSC243 was on initial descent for Edmonton when the flight crew informed ATC that they would require priority handling for Runway 30 (12 was active) in order to arrive with the appropriate amount of fuel. Priority was given and TSC243 landed on runway 30 twenty minutes later. One arrival for Runway 12 was delayed for 5 minutes.
