Incident at EDMONTON INTL AB (CYEG) (Conflict - loss of separation, Alleged Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) infraction)

Summary

2003-02-14: C-FTLB, a Beech King Air 300, was inbound to Edmonton and cleared from FL 220 to maintain 17,000 feet. This a/c was overtaking NCB 181, a Beech King Air 100, at 16,000 feet also inbound to Edmonton. C-FTLB subsequently descended through 17,000 and reached 16,700 feet before climbing back to 17,000 following intervention by a Controller. Separation required was 1,000 feet vertical or 5 miles radar. Separation acheived was 700 feet vertical and 4.25 miles radar.
