Incident at YELLOWKNIFE NT (CYZF)
2005-08-16: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that the smoke in the cockpit originated from the port cabin supercharger. Supercharger lubrication oil entered the impeller cavity as a result of an internal failure. The supercharger was replaced and the aircraft returned to service.
2003-02-18: TSB reported that HS 748, C-GJVN operating as FAB 8028 had departed from Yellowknife, (CYZF) at 12:50 MST for Diavik (CDK2)when the cabin began to fill with smoke. The flight crew opened the left spill valve in order to evacuate the smoke and requested ATC priority and a return to Yellowknife. The aircraft landed without further incident at 13:31 with Airport Firefighters standing by. Failure of the pneumatic supercharger was suspected. The aircraft was involved in a similar occurrence five hours previously (TSB-A03W0031 and CADORS-2003C0189).
2003-02-12: FAB8028 had departed at 19:50Z for Diavik, NT and then at 20:15Z the pilot requested clearance back to Yellowknife because of smoke in the cockpit. The aircraft requested priority and Emergency Services was put on standby. The aircraft landed sarely on Runway 33 at 20:31Z and normal operations were resumed. There was minimal impact on operations.
