Incident at YELLOWKNIFE NT (CYZF)
2003-02-12: FAB 8010 had departed Yellowknife at 1424Z for Koala and then the crew requested clearance back at 1458Z because of smoke in the cockpit. Emergency Services were put on standby and the aircraft landed safely at 1510Z.
2005-08-16: UPDATE Maintenance and Manufacturing reported that the smoke in the cockpit originated from the port cabin supercharger. Supercharger lubrication oil entered the impeller cavity as a result of an internal failure. The supercharger was replaced and the aircraft returned to service.
2003-02-18: TSB advised that when the HS 748, C-GJVN operating as FAB 8010, was 60 DME from Yellowknife, (CYZF) en route to Koala (CYOA) the crew reported that the cabin slowly filled with smoke. The flight crew suspected a pneumatic system supercharger failure and they opened both spill valves. The flight then returned to Yellowknife where it landed without further incident at 1510 MST. No emergency was declared and the Airport Firefighters responded at the request of ATC.
