Incident at CALGARY INTL AB (CYYC)
2003-02-11: Maintenance and Manufacturing advised WestJet reported that the APU malfunctioned possibly due to fuel control and/or ingnition problems. The APU was placed under MEL and the aircraft was dispatched. Further information from WestJet will follow regarding the cause of the malfunction when maintenance completes repairs on the unit.
2003-02-18: TSB reported that while the Boeing 737-200, C-GMWJ operating as WJA 15 from Saskatoon was taxiing after landing at Calgary ATC advised the crew that the APU was emitting a considerable amount of smoke. The APU was shut down, and Airport Firefighters responded. After inspecting the aircraft on the taxiway, and determining that everything was normal, the aircraft proceeded to the gate. It was reported that the APU malfunctioned possibly due to a fuel control and/or ingnition problems. The APU was placed under MEL and the aircraft was dispatched.
2003-02-10: After landing Calgary Tower observed an abnormal amount of smoke from the APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) of WJA 15, a B737-200 as the aircraft exited Runway 28. The crew advised that there were no indications of a problem in the cockpit. Emergency services were called but upon checking found nothing abnormal.
