2003-01-28: SSV 300, a B757, departed from Runway 31 at Regina at 0225Z. On initial contact, the crew of SSV 300 was assigned heading 270 degrees. The pilot read back the heading and then began a left turn through 270. WJA 112, a B737, was inbound to Regina descending to 4,000 feet. The Controller realized SSV 300 had turned too far left and instructed the crew to immediately turn right to a heading of 270 degrees for traffic. The Controller then instructed WJA 112 to immediately turn right to a heading of 120 degrees for traffic. The aircraft passed with approximately 6 miles separation.
2003-02-06: UPDATE TSB reported that the Skyservice B757, G-OOOZ, an Air 2000 wet lease aircraft, was departing Regina from Runway 31. On initial contact with the Departure Controller, the flight was assigned a heading of 270 degrees. Information provided indicated that the heading was read back correctly; however, the crew continued the turn through 270 degrees. The Controller realized that the crew was turning too far and that a loss of separation was developing with a descending inbound flight, WestJet 112. The Controller instructed G-OOOZ to immediately turn right to a heading of 270 degrees and also instructed WestJet to turn right to 120 degrees. The aircraft passed with approximately six miles of separation, where five miles is required. Other information indicated that the crew of G-OOOZ interpreted the initial heading as 170 degrees.
