2003-01-27: JZA 8326, a DHC-8, was on approach at Edmonton after a flight from Grande Prairie, when the crew reported a problem with a gear door. They elected to divert to Calgary where the flight landed without incident. TSB will contact the company.
2003-02-03: UPDATE TSB reported that when the landing gear on the De Havilland Dash 8 was selected up during a missed approach at Edmonton International, the left hand forward gear door did not close. The flight crew elected to divert to Calgary rather than attempt a second approach due to associated weather conditions, and the flight landed in Calgary without further incident. Maintenance personnel cleaned and inspected the left hand forward gear door actuator, the door lock assembly, and the proximity switch, and then swung the gear and returned the aircraft to service. On the subsequent flight the gear door closed but the light remained illuminated. Maintenance then replaced the proximity sensor and no further problems were noted.
