Incident at WINNIPEG / JAMES ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON INTL MB (CYWG)

Summary

2003-01-20: NWA 860, an A319 with 51 people on board, departed Winnipeg enroute to Minneapolis, and when the a/c was 25 miles south of Winnipeg the crew felt an unusual airframe vibration. The vibration intensified as the aircraft climbed and accelerated. The crew levelled off at FL 190, declared an emergency, and returned to Winnipeg without further incident. There were no injuries. Company maintenance and TSB investigators are examining the aircraft.
