Incident at IQALUIT NU (CYFB) (Incursion - runway - animal)

Summary

2003-01-21: UPDATE Aerodrome Safety contacted the Airport manager at Iqaluit and determined that the airport is operating in accordance with its Airport Operating Manual. Futher, the Canada Flight Supplement for the airport in the 'Caution' section advises that the presence of large animals (Dogs, Wolves and Caribou) is possible within the airport perimeter. The migratory ways of the Barren Land Caribou can at times conflict with the airport, although this has not been a problem in recent years.
2003-01-20: A stray dog was seen on the airside at Iqaluit airport near the Terminal building and it was chased off the airport perimeter by security at the threshold of Runway 35 at 1920Z.
