Incident at ISLAND LAKE MB (CYIV)
2003-01-15: UPDATE TSB reported that PAG 139 was on approach at Island Lake after a flight from Winnipeg. When the crew selected the landing gear down, the left 'in transit' light stayed on. The crew attempted four manual extentions and two touch-and-go landings, without success. Visual assessment indicated that the gear was extended. A holding pattern was flown to burn off fuel. The crew shut down the left engine on final approach as a precaution, and landed without further incident. The passengers were deplaned on the runway and transported to the terminal building. The landing gear was secured, and the aircraft was ferried to Winnipeg with the gear down, under a ferry permit. Examination of the aircraft revealed that the left main gear uplock microswitch had failed.
