Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)
2003-12-16: At 1243Z the Halifax TCU advised the Halifax TWR that CJA125 which was bound for Ottawa from Halifax was returning to Halifax due to an 'odor in the cockpit', no assistance was required. The Halifax Duty Manager was advised. The aircraft landed without incident or delays to other aircraft at 1300Z. TSB - A03A0132 - Case Closed - More to Follow.
2003-12-19: TSB - Update - A03A0131 - The CANJET AIRLINES B737 operating as CJA125 had just departed Halifax Intl when the crew detected an acrid odor in the cockpit. The crew completed the Smoke in the cockpit checklist and the odor appeared to dissipate. The crew advised ATC that the flight would be returning to Halifax Intl. No assistance was requested and the flight landed without further incident at 1300z. Company advises that there appeared to be an electronic short with a component in the Glare Shield. The airline will be providing more information when available.
2004-01-28: Update - Maintenance and Manufacturing - The Cannon plug at the window heat module shorted out and damaged the window heat module. Both the cannon plug and window heat module were replaced.
