Incident at SAINT JOHN NB (CYSJ) (Alleged Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) infraction)

Summary

2003-11-27: Fast moving aircraft (believed to be Hawker Hunters based in Fredericton) observed on NARDS display in Saint John FSS, exiting the south end of CYR724. Data tag displayed speeds in excess of 250 knots and coming to approximately 9-10 miles northwest of the Saint John control zone. This was observed many times during the hour or proceeding. C-GLDD C172 in the Saint John training area (northwest quadrant 8 to 15 miles from YSJ) reported several times that the fast moving targets coming out of the CYR were observed to be within 2-3 miles of C-GLDD at similar (unverified altitudes. A call was made to the Atlantic Flight Center, to ask the CFI if we could ask the C172 to move to another training area, to which he agreed. Nil TSB
