Incident at GREATER MONCTON ROMEO LEBLANC INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2003-10-29: TSB Update - 2003-10-29 - A03A0118: C-GMFF, a Moncton Flight Center Diamond DA20 was on a local training flight in the Moncton area when the pilot reported that the elevator trim tab was stuck in the full nose-up position. No emergency was declared and the pilot did not request assistance. The aircraft landed safely without further incident. The instructor had been demonstrating the effects of full nose-up trim when the trim motor seized.
2003-10-28: CGMFF a Diamond DV20 reported it was 10 northeast of the airport inbound with the elevator trim tab stuck in full nose up position. No emergency was declared no assistance was required. The aircraft landed safely at 2046Z
2003-11-03: Maintenance & Manufacturing - 2003-11-03 - Replacement of trim motor did not fix problem. Further troubleshooting determined that one of the two relays installed in the trim actuation system was intermittently sticking in one direction. An SDR will be issued.
