Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)
2003-11-03: Update - Maintenance & Manufacturing - 2003-11-03 - After takeoff out of YHZ the flight crew advised Maintenance Control the right hand(R/H) main gear door light had not extinguished when the gear had been selected up. The gear was recycled three times with the same result. After consulting with Maintenance Control the gear was recycled again but the light still did not go out. The Aircraft returned to Halifax with out incident and was brought to the hangar for repair, it was found that a fitting on the gear door actuator was leaking the fitting was replaced, rod end on the actuator was lengthened and a leak check along with gear swings accomplished with no faults noted and the aircraft was returned to service dated Oct 16/03. Prior to this on Oct 15/03 a rear door actuator was changed on the R/H side the actuator was installed.
2003-10-16: A Dash8 Jazz Flight 8853 Halifax to Boston departed Halifax at 1050Z. At a position approximately 20 Nautical Miles West of Halifax the aircraft requested to return to Halifax. No assistance was required. The aircraft did not specify the reason. The Halifax Duty manager and AFF were advised. The aircraft landed safely at 1125Z with no delays to other aircraft.
