Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

Summary

2003-10-14: Maintenance and Manufacturing - Turn back was due to a ""LH Wing body Overheat"" light illuminated. MEL 26-12 was applied and rectified by repairing a wire found chafing near connector D864 to ground. Ref log # A00742 and A 00745. A post investigation found that the aircraft could have continued on to Toronto below flight alttitude 24,000 feet under the MEL but the aircrew were given incorrect revised fuel burn information and inadvertently returned to base.
2003-10-01: Canjet Flight 161 a Boeing 737 departed Halifax for Toronto. Approximately 10 minutes after Take-Off the aircraft requested to return to Halifax. No reason was given, and the aircraft landed safely without incident. AFF was on standby.
