Incident at FREDERICTON INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Summary

2003-09-23: From 2008Z to 2014Z a strong continuous ELT signal was emitted on 121.5 and 243.0. Aircraft in the vicinity of the Fredericton Airport were verified and it was coming from CGNBO a PA-28 located on the ground. The pilot was working on his aircraft. He transmitted intermittently between 2014Z and 2024z while taxiing for departure. The Pilot was advised of the situation and that RCC would be advised by FSS of ELT source. RCC, Moncton supervisor and Gagetown were advised of the source of the ELT as soon as it was identified.
