Incident at HALIFAX / STANFIELD INTL NS (CYHZ)

Summary

2003-09-15: ACA610 an Air Canada Boeing 767-200 inbound from Toronto pulled up when it was 1½ miles final for Runway 06 in Halifax due to possible control/indication problem. The aircraft then requested to be vectored for a 10 mile final for Runway 06. No assistance was required. The Duty Manager was advised. AFF was in standby position. When aircraft was about 8 miles final the pilot reported the problem was solved. The aircraft landed at 1450. There was no impact on any other aircraft.
2003-09-16: TSB - update - A03A0107 - ACA610 an Air Canada Boeing 767-200 inbound from Toronto to Halifax pulled up when it was 1½ miles final for Runway 06 in Halifax. The crew had received an ICAS indication of slat disagreement. The crew then requested, and was vectored for, a 10 mile final for Runway 06. During this time the crew followed the QRH procedure and retracted and redeployed the slats, this time successfully. When aircraft was about 8 miles final the pilot reported the problem was solved. The aircraft then landed uneventfully at 1150. There was no impact on any other aircraft. AFF was in standby position. On the ground the proximity sensor electronic unit (PSEU) was reset, and no fault was found. The operator will be evaluating the PSEU tolerances and flight conditions to isolate the reason for the slat disagreement warning.
