Incident at J.A. DOUGLAS MCCURDY SYDNEY AIRPORT

Summary

2003-09-02: The Sydney FSS Duty specialist witnessed a seagull strike a DHC8 Jazz flight 8813 (Sydney to Halifax) during takeoff roll. Aircraft departure continued normally. When contacted, the crew of the aircraft confirmed that the seagull struck their left propeller, with no apparent damage to the aircraft. The Sydney Airport Authority was contacted and the remains of the bird were removed from the runway.
2003-11-10: Jazz Update - JZA8813 a DHC8/102 was departing Sydney for Halifax. On take off run in Sydney at approximately 85 knots the aircraft hit one seagull with the No.1 propeller assembly. Maintenance inspected aircraft upon arrival in Halifax and found no damage.
