Incident at GANDER INTL NL (CYQX)
2003-07-04: Update Maintenance and Manufacturing - 2003-06-30 - The Director of Maintenance reported that No. 3 piston experienced a failure of its aluminum side during cruise flight, resulting in engine power loss and rough operation. The piston failure caused the crankcase to become pressurized forcing oil out the crankcase breather tube. Oil pressure was eventually lost resulting in the engine stoppage in flight. An emergency landing ensued with no further damage.
2003-06-26: C-GZKI, a Cessna152, on a local VFR flight, experienced a loss of oil pressure followed by a rough running engine and then an engine failure. There was an Instructor and Student on board. The aircraft conducted a successful Forced Approach and Landing to a secondary highway within the Gander community boundary. There was no additional damage to the aircraft. The pilot immediately prior to landing informed Gander Tower of the problem. TSB - A03A0073 - More to Follow
