Incident at MIRAMICHI NB (CYCH)

Summary

2003-06-05: Moncton ACC contacted Halifax RCC after several High Flying aircraft reported an ELT signal 121.5 near Miramichi New Brunswick. A phone inquiry revealed no overdue or missing aircraft and no ELT was observed at the Miramichi Airport. The 413 Squadron Hercules aircraft R328 was tasked while on its route back from another case. Hercules R328 homed the signal to the Miramichi airport. Further investigation revealed a Water Bomber GZUE had accidentally activated the ELT on landing. The ELT was shut off at 1615Z. Case Closed.
