Incident at CCB2


2003-06-03: The ground investigation of this incident led to the Middle Stewiacke Aerodrome -CCB2, the SARSAT position was within several miles of this airfield. The Aerodrome Operator was contacted and he went out and checked C-FNXM and returned a call to Search and Rescue to confirm the aircraft was not transmitting and that there was no knowledge of any other aircraft in the area. A SAR Labrador Helicopter was then launched from Greenwood and its equipment led it to C-FNXM on the same aerodrome (CCB2). RCC then contacted the aircraft owner to complete the SAR case. RCC had difficulty in obtaining the aircraft owner's cooperation.
2003-06-02: The SARSAT detected an ELT at position 4513N 6309W on 121.5 Near Middle Stewiake Aerodrome. The intial investigation turned up no overdue or missing aircraft. Several High flighing aircraft reported the ELT signal. 413 Squadron was tasked with Lab R918 which homed the signal to Middle Stewiake Aerodrome where they turned off the ELT in a parked Cessna 182 CFNXM. Total time 413 SQN Lab Helicopter 2.0 Hrs.
